Grand Lodge Librarian – Registration of Interest

15 Feb 2017 - 11:33am

We would like to hear from you if you are interested in becoming the Grand Lodge Librarian, responsible for managing the J.R.Robertson Library situated within the Freemason’s Hall, North Terrace, Adelaide.

The Library was established in 1925 and hosts an extensive array of Classical and Modern Masonic Texts and Magazines, along with the historical records supplied by various Lodges. It also supplies the Freemasons Library in Darwin with Library material.

Customarily, the Library is open Monday and Wednesday, between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., with car parking facilities made available, and three Brethren providing Library assistance.

The Library has a long tradition in providing Freemasons with “hard copy” Masonic Texts and Magazines and in recommending appropriate material to borrowers who attend at the Library. We are currently examining our electronic platform, as a means to improving Library access, and working to develop a larger sustainable group of volunteers to maintain its services.

In order to do this, we are looking for someone who is:

  • Interested in Library management as a means of promoting Masonic learning to Library users and Freemasons generally;
  • Self-managing and methodical – able to learn about current Library operations “on the job” and innovative in respect of developing new ways of increasing Library usage across South Australia and the Northern Territory;
  • Able to collaboratively lead and develop a team of Library volunteers, working in conjunction with the Masonic Learning portfolio (and who might enable us to provide “after working hours” Library useage.

If you are interested, and would like to discuss matters further, please contact me directly on 0408 549 282. Alternatively leave your details with Ms. Danielle Pilkington (08) 8223 1633 or Danielle@santfreemason.org.au

M.G. (Fred) Trueman. APM.
Director, Masonic Learning.
