Guest Speaker at Duke of Edinburgh Lodge No. 16

16 Mar 2017 - 11:45am

At its February 2017 meeting, the Duke of Edinburgh Lodge No. 16 invited a Guest Speaker, Ms. Susan Tappin from the Country Health SA, Local Health Network, based at the Wallaroo Hospital to give a talk on "Matters of the Heart".  (Susan is pictured here with RWBro. Ian Archibald being presented with a Token of Appreciation).

Ladies of the Members also attended the Presentation. Susan provided an excellent slide Presentation on the Subject and much laughter was generated when the tape measures went around the waistline of many present. It certainly was a wakeup call to those who were overweight. She also demonstrated a Defibrillator which can be used by any individual should a heart attack occur. Many of these machines are now being placed in Community/Shop locations throughout the State.

Several of the Members of the Duke of Edinburgh Lodge No. 16 have suffered heart attacks or other heaet ailments in the past, and because there are several Degrees of Freemasonry that meet in Moonta, the Lodge is seriously considering purchasing one of these units for placement in the Lodge Room.

It should be noted that Grand Lodge, Freemasons Hall, 254 North Terrace, Adelaide, is equipped with defibrillators.
