Heart Defibrillating Machine Presented to the Duke of Edinburgh Lodge No. 16

At its September 2017 meeting, the members of the Duke of Edinburgh Lodge were presented with a Heart Defibrillating Machine which was made possible through a grant from the Freemasons Foundation  and support from Lodge finances.

The decision to purchase a Unit was made following a visit earlier this year when a Member of the Outreach Nursing Group, based at the Wallaroo Hospital, gave an informative talk on “Matters of the Heart”.

Ms Jane Purdie from Myriad Occupational Safety Training based in Kadina, supplied the Unit and provided the training for the Members on the night.  Ms Purdie is pictured here demonstrating the use of the machine.

Also present were members from Mark and Chapter Lodges which also use the Premises for their Meetings.

Many of the Members of this Lodge are in the aged/retired bracket and some have known heart conditions.

Of course it is hoped that the Lodge will never have to use the unit, but all Members can now be appeased that   it is there should the need arise -  and may in fact save a life one day!
