Lodge of Fidelity Annual Gawler Rotary Village Fair and Open Day

The Lodge of Fidelity No. 5 (“where town and country brethren meet”) held an Open Day and participated in  the Annual Gawler Rotary Village Fair and and Open Day on Saturday 4^th November 2017.

The Annual Gawler Rotary Village Fair was held at Pioneer Park in Gawler.  The Fair is an enjoyable, free family event which offers something for everyone with more than fifty stalls selling a wide selection of goods including gifts, crafts, produce, plants and flowers, books, toys and jams and preserves along with a variety of food and drinks available to tempt the appetite for a mid-morning snack or lunch. 

The Fair is not a fundraiser for the Rotary Club but provides an opportunity for local community groups, clubs and schools, various charities and other organisations to attend and raise money for their own particular causes.

The local Gawler Freemasons - Lodge of Fidelity No. 5 - have had a long association with the Fair by having its own stall selling Double Smoked Kransky Dogs with Sauerkraut. 

On tha Saturday the lodge sold out by lunch time, with many local familiar faces seeking out the stall annually for their Kransky Dog.  Proceeds from the day will be donated to the Lodge's charity fund for dispersal to local charities later in the year.

To coincide with the 300^th Birthday of modern Freemasonry and the Village Fair, the Gawler Freemasons opened up their doors to the public to help shed light on the mysterious world-wide fraternity. 

The Gawler Freemasons Hall located adjacent to Pioneer Park was a short walk from the Lodge's stall at the Village Fair, which allowed brethren serving on the stall to direct visitors to the Hall for a look and to answer any questions they might have about Freemasonry. 

Approximately forty visitors took the opportunity to inspect the open Lodge Room and have any queries answered by the following brethren on hand : Shaun Taylor, Michael Williams and Raff Piccolo.  The event was advertised with a half page article in the local newspaper – The Bunyip dated 1 November 2017).
