Message to all Chapter Companions from the Deputy First Grand Principal

24 Sep 2018 - 1:09pm

It is that time of year once again when we try to put together a team of Grand Officers and Stewards for the ensuing year and by now you or your Scribe Ezra will have received the paperwork calling for nominations.

It is, as you may well be aware, becoming more and more difficult to achieve this goal as the years go by, can I therefore ask you, one and all, to seriously consider nominating for Office next year.

It matters not whether you are a past or current Grand Officer, whether your Office was high or low, your services are still needed.  Indeed last year we had the rather poor number of five members who took the time to nominate.

This then necessitates coercion and making multiple phone calls.  How it can be expected that the Installation Ceremonies go ahead with the dignity required, I am at quite a loss to know.  If, in time, we should have insufficient Companions to perform the Installation Ceremonies, and it might be closer than you think, then there are consequences for all of us.  I therefore urge you, if you are a current or past 1st Principal, to fill out the form, nominate, be active.  Don’t just think I’ve done my bit and that’s it.  The work should not have to fall to the same people all the time.

I acknowledge the fact that we are not getting any younger or are likely to be on a pension but please, please, if you are able to assist at even one or two Ceremonies then please nominate.

Get the nomination form for Grand Officer.

Get the nomination form for Grand Steward.

Please do not leave it until the last minute.

Nominations must be received by the Grand Chapter Office af Freemasons Hall

by 12 noon on the 5th day of November 2018

Yours fraternally,

Ivor Willmott

Deputy 1st Grand Principal
