Tennant Creek Combined Meeting

12 Apr 2018 - 12:35pm

The Annual Combined Meeting, shared between three Lodges of the Northern Territory was held this year on Saturday 24th February 2018.

Lodges participating are The Alice Springs Lodge No. 156, Katherine Lodge of Fidelity No. 217 and McDouall Stuart Lodge No. 219.

Each year one Lodge holds their meeting in Tennant Creek.

This gathering was established to bring together Lodges from the regions of the Northern Territory for the purposes of progressing Freemasonry.

This year McDouall Stuart Lodge No. 219 was honoured with holding a Third Degree Ceremony and Bro. Daniel Latjor Met was successfully raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason.

The event was supported by Brethren from Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs representing five different Lodges including  VWBro. John Matthews the DGS from the NT Top End and VWBro Les Pilton the DGS from NT Central. To put the effort of attendance into perspective, a return trip from Darwin is 2000 km; Katherine 1400 km; and Alice Springs 1000 km.

The Ceremony was highlighted by a rolling thunder storm which seemed to have been timed perfectly to give the candidate an atmosphere of equal measure to the symbolic significance of the working.

A three course dinner followed with a sincere exchange of comradery, Masonic reflection and of course a little festive frivolity. The morning after, Brethren gathered for a lovely breakfast in preparation for an equally unique Royal Ark Mariners meeting.

So a weekend packed with purpose, meaning and fun was had by all.
